Muscle Joint Pain
As we age our joints and cartilage wear down resulting in an occurrence of pain in joints and muscles. However aging is not the only contributor of such pain. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or SLE is known to be the main cause of joint and muscle pain.
Inflammation of joints is the main cause of muscle joint pain or is often referred to as arthritis that cause swelling, tenderness, a burning sensation, pain, and a collection of fluid. The symptoms of SLE are more likened to those of a viral flu. A sudden and severe pain in muscles joints can make a person feel really ill.
Symptoms of SLE and arthritis are similar because of the swelling and pain of joints. Some patients do not suffer severe joint pain but have serious inflamed muscles that result in the loss of strength.
In some cases before SLE would occur pain in the muscle joints would be felt. However in severe cases individuals even while resting still experience muscle joint pain. Patients who suffer from muscle joint pain are advised by health practitioners to have the right balance of rest and exercise while those with SLE have to be cautious and aware of the activities they do so that they do not put an additional burden on the weakened joints and muscles.
Muscle joint pain can take place in any part of the body such as the shoulders, hips, and knees which are more prone to this illness. Also being overweight adds stress and difficulty to SLE patients because they are more likely to suffer from muscle and joint pain. SLE patients may feel weak and their strength draining away due to a develop inflammation of skeletal muscles.
Joint pain in a person cannot always be attricuted to lupus arthritis. There are certain medical problems that may also complicate the pain or co-exist with SLE. These health problems may include:
· Bursitis
· Tendonitis
· Avascular necrosis of bone
· Fibromyalgia
· Other forms of arthritis
· Infection
· Muscle injury
There are a number of other factors, other than SLE, that may be associated with joint and muscle pain. It’s always recommended that you consult a doctor rather than speculating as to the cause of the pain you are experiencing.
Early stages of muscle joint pains should be treated if discovered to avoid complications in the future. In some serious cases there are no permanent solutions available. Some patients may want to have surgery and have their joints replaced.
Muscle joint pain can have an adverse effect on a person’s level of activity that is why it is best to avoid such conditions by doing regular exercise, eating an adequate diet, and visiting your physician when any pain is felt.
